Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is dedicated exclusively to graduate level research and training. Since its creation in 1969, the institute has built its success on interdisciplinarity, innovation, and excellence.
Fostering an Interdisciplinary Approach INRS is made up of four thematic and interdisciplinary research and training centres in Quebec City, Montreal, Laval, and Varennes: Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie; Eau Terre Environnement; Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications; and Urbanisation Culture Société.
Serving Quebec Society Founded in 1969 by the Quebec government to help develop Quebec society through research and graduate training, INRS serves society through its discoveries and training of highly skilled researchers capable of scientific, social, and technological innovation.
Training through Research Nearly 150 professors include master’s and PhD students on their teams to help conduct basic and applied research in areas of strategic importance for society.
Excellence in Research INRS has been ranked number one for research intensity for nearly a decade thanks to the expertise of its professors and the excellence of its students. And it continues to innovate, with collaborative research projects and over 1,500 publications with international partners.
